Pechenga district of Murmansk region is located in the extreme north-west of Russia. It has land borders with Finland and Norway. The northern boundary of the region is the Barents Sea.
The district is industrially developed. The main industries are mining, non-ferrous metallurgy, electric power's production.
One of the promising areas of economic development of Pechenga district is tourism, due to favorable cross-border location of the territory, the available natural and recreational resourses.
The main task of the municipal administration is attracting of investments into the economy of the area in order to improve the quality of the urban environment, the development of recreational areas and improve of service.
