Murmansk State Technical University trains engineers of marine sphere for resource-exploration and processing industries as well as for industries of European North life sphere of Russian Federation.     

The University provides education on postgraduate, higher, secondary and basic vocational levels as well as offers a range of further education programmes. The University research and innovative infrastructure insures implementation of fundamental researches and applied technological developments within the following spheres: ship navigation, industrial fishery fleet operation; methods and technology of processing hydrobionts and agricultural raw materials, aquatic bioresources and  aquaculture; geology of Kola peninsula and the Arctic ocean shelf; chemistry, ecology, environment; energy-saving technologies.
